Homework for 1/8/2010:

  1. Paper (3-5 pages):
    1. Go to http://bible.oremus.org/ (or other web site), copy the the NRSV text and produce a worksheet that puts Mk 2:1-9 next to Mt 9:1-8. Highlight the passages that are different.
    2. NEWInterpret Mk 2:1-12 with Mt 9:1-8 on the background of the Two-Source Theory.
      1. What did Matthew change?
      2. Why did Matthew change it?
  2. Produce a list of resources that you have access to at home, in your library, or electronically. Group them in three categories.
    1. Bibles (different translations and editions)
    2. Commentaries (Old and New Testament)
    3. Introductions to the Bible providing scholarly background information
  3. Read the introduction to the Nestle-Aland, Greek-English NT, pages 7*-14* and try to understand the critical signs in the Greek text of Mk 1:1. Bring questions to class.
